[ The short answer ]
Intake is an AI support agent for B2B software companies. It connects to your documentation and your API, resolves the conversations it can close on its own and hands your team the ones that need judgement.
The definition
It connects to the help center you already have and to your API, handles your customer conversations and closes the ones it can close by itself. It is not a chatbot over documents: before answering it reads that account real state —the plan, permissions, usage limits, billing— because in a SaaS the right answer is almost never the same for two different customers.

What it does differently
Most AI support tools end up sending the article that explains how to do something. Intake can do it: it calls the API endpoints you enable, with the permissions you grant, and confirms the result in the same conversation. Raising a limit, resending an invoice or checking why an integration fails stop being a ticket for a person.

When it stops
An agent that always answers is worse than one that knows when to stay quiet. When a question needs judgement, when the data does not add up or when the customer asks for it, Intake hands the conversation to someone on your team with the case assembled: what was asked, what it already checked and why it stopped.

To avoid confusion
In English "intake" means admission, entry or consumption, so the name is shared with plenty of things that have nothing to do with us. If you came looking for one of those, this saves you the trip.

No. A chatbot answers from what is written in your documentation. Intake also reads the account state of whoever is asking —plan, permissions, limits, billing— and can run actions against your API with the permissions you grant.

Because it describes what it does: taking in what arrives. In English "intake" also means admission, entry or consumption, so the name is shared with automotive parts, with nutrition and with admission processes. None of that relates to this product.
